Microsoft Demanding That Xbox Related iPhone Apps be Free of Charge

Microsoft has recently decided to halt the sale of any Xbox Live related applications and is demanding that applications currently available through the App store be made free.

Despite the fact that Microsoft has yet to officially release an application on the iPhone platform, they have mandated that developers creating Xbox Live related applications, of which there are currently a few available, be free of charge.

While you may disagree with Microsoft’s iron fist, you must consider that they are allowing developers access to the Xbox Live community through the Xbox Community Developer Program, which of course, is subject to Microsoft’s rules.

It appears that Microsoft is not pouting about the applications themselves, just with the fact that developers may be making a few bucks off their product. There are currently at least three such applications that are available for download through the App store. One of which, iLive, is charging $1.99 that we suspect will be made free in due time.

Question of the day: Do you think that Microsoft will ever officially develop an application for the iPhone?
