iPhone 2.2 Seeded to Developers, Mobile Safari Interface Tweaked

Apple has seeded iPhone Firmware 2.2 to developers. While there hasn’t been too much time to dig around the insides, one change that has been noticed is a slight interface tweak to the device’s web browser “Mobile Safari.”

Not long after Apple released iPhone Software 2.1, they have seeded firmware 2.2 to developers. This new build most likely includes enhancements and optimizations to existing code, and possibly some new GPS/Push Notification features.

iPhone Software 2.1 was a much anticipated update that addressed issues like dropped calls, little to no reception, crashing applications, and generally poor performance. These issues were all being reported by a majority of iPhone users, since the device launched in July ‘08. The 2.1 Software Update successfully resolved many of these seemingly un-fixable issues.

Among the enhancements and possible changes inside firmware 2.2, MacRumors’ iPhone blog points out that the interface for Apple’s Mobile Safari web-browser has been slightly tweaked. If you can’t tell what the difference is, the Google search bar has been moved into the title bar, instead of only appearing when you tap on the address bar.
