AT&T Officially Offering Free Wi-Fi for iPhone Users

AT&T has officially announced that they will be offering free Wi-Fi service for iPhone users across America.

While we have heard word of such offerings before, this time it is official. The new announcement states:

“AT&T knows Wi-Fi is hot, and FREE Wi-Fi is even hotter. Which is why FREE AT&T Wi-Fi access is now available for Apple iPhone at thousands of hotspots nationwide, including Starbucks*. Users can relax and access music, email and web browsing services with their favorite blend in hand from the comfort of their nearest location. For information visit www.att.com/attwifi.”

AT&T also notes that thousands of Wi-Fi hotspot locations can be found at Airports, Hotels, Universities, Convention Centers, Sports Centers, Restaurants, Bookstores, Supermarkets, and even Starbucks across the country.

They have also provided the following steps that iPhone users should take to access the free Wi-Fi:

• Activate Wi-Fi from the settings icon on your iPhone
• Select “attwifi” from the list of available networks
• Enter your 10-digit mobile number and check the box to agree to the Acceptable Use Policy. Tap ‘continue’
• You will receive a text message from AT&T with a secure link to the AT&T Wi-Fi hotspot. You will not be charged for the text message.
• The SMS link will only be valid for 24 hours at the location it was requested. Another request must be submitted when using another hotspot location.
• Open the text message and tap on the link for 24-hour access to the AT&T Wi-Fi hotspot

Finally (Again) — I am so sick of going to Starbucks or some ATT hotspot, then I get lost in the mobile bullshit of logging on. What a crock. Mobile my ass. They make you sit there and actually get frustrated before you can get in. If you can even figure it out. Hopefully this will change with this announcement…… again.

Yeah, the process to log on nearly defeated the whole purpose being able to quickly accomplish what you were looking to do. The last announcement was just tease, so i agree in saying let’s hope this will change.
